Since graduating high school I attended Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, where I completed a double major in microbiology/immunology and neuroscience. During my studies I became very interested in infectious diseases and public health, so when COVID arrived I was able to start volunteering at rapid testing clinics and putting my education to use helping where I could on the east coast. The Serge Payer foundation grant was a great subsidy that not only helped pay for some of my tuition but also gave me information related to Guillain-Barre syndrome, which helped spur my interest in the immune system. I plan on studying more in the future, Ideally in public health and epidemiology.
